From offices in Baton Rouge, Hammond and Kinder, Louisiana and Poplarville, Mississippi, Bennett & Peters manages over a half-million acres of timberland with individual ownerships ranging in size from less than 40 to over 250,000 acres.
Intensity and direction of forest management varies by client needs. Bennett & Peters retains the flexibility to design management plans which meet the goals of the individual forestland owner, both technically and economically. For example, many smaller landowners desire only assistance with timber sales; whereas, several of our larger landowner clients rely on Bennett & Peters for all land management needs, including:
- Administration and record keeping
- Management planning
- Timber sales
- Regeneration
- Maintenance of roads, bridges and boundary lines
- Protection from fire, insects and disease
- Agricultural and farm management
- Wildlife and recreation management
Each Bennett & Peters area office is responsible for forest management within its geographic area, but manpower needs are coordinated among the four offices, making it possible to handle forestry jobs of any size. All of our offices have computer capabilities, but major inventory analysis and mapping operations are centralized in our Baton Rouge office. Also, our staff probably has more experience than any other in the nation in hardwood management, managing about 200,000 acres of bottomland and upland hardwood tracts.
Bennett & Peters owns and operates all necessary equipment for forest management. For example, on several of our larger management jobs, we own and operate motor patrols, bulldozers, backhoes and complete fire-fighting units, including trucks, tractors and fireplows.
